Lanckorona to jedna ze wsi leżących w południowej Polsce, w województwie małopolskim, ok. 30 km od Krakowa. Jednym z zabytków Lanckorony jest drewniana zabudowa, obejmująca głównie domy położone w centrum wsi.
Lanckorona is a village located in southern Poland, in Lesser Poland Voivodeship, about 30 kilometres south-west of Kraków. One of the monuments of Lanckorona is wooden urban layout and buildings, consisting mainly houses situated at the center.

Plan miasta oparto na układzie przestrzennym osady przedlokacyjnej, która miała kształt wrzecionowaty, nieregularną sieć ulic oraz kościół w części zachodniej. Środkiem tego układu był rynek o wymiarach 90 na 110 m o wyjątkowo dużym spadku terenu, dochodzącym do 9,5 %. Z każdego narożnika rynku wybiegała jedna ulica. Zabudowa ciągnęła się wzdłuż boków rynku i wzdłuż ulic wylotowych.
The town plan is based on the layout of the settlement that existed before a town charter was granted. It was spindle-shaped with an irregular grid of streets and the church to the west. In the center was located the market square with size of 90 to 110 m. This market square have extremely large decline, of up to 9.5%. From every corner of the market was running out one street. The buildings were built along the sides of the market and along the streets.

W późniejszych latach układ ten ulegał zmianom poprzez wyprowadzanie z rynku dodatkowych ulic. Do dziś przetrwała tylko część drewnianej zabudowy Lanckorony. Domy przy Rynku i przy ulicach wylotowych wzniesiono w latach 1869–72 po ostatnim pożarze miasta.
In later years this system was changing as a result of construction of additional streets. To this day, survived only a portion of the wooden building of Lanckorona. Homes on the market square and the streets were built in the years 1869-1872 after the last fire of the town.

Jedną z charakterystycznych cech budynków Lanckorony są dachy z mocno wysuniętymi okapami, stanowiącymi podcienia, które służyły kupcom do wystawiania towarów w czasie targów i jarmarków.
One of the characteristics of buildings of Lanckorona are roofs with strongly protruding eaves, forming arcades that served merchants to issue goods during trade shows and fairs.
